Primary School - Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur

The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur is a branch of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. It was founded by Swami Lokeswarananda in 1956. Prior to its inception, he was in-charge of a “Students’ Home” run by the Mission in North Kolkata. Accordingly, with 12 students from there he first established a similar Home in tents at Narendrapur. Next year, i.e. in 1957, he opened another Home for the visually handicapped children which afterward took the shape of the Blind Boys’ Academy.

Sishu Vidyavithi

“Sishu Vidyavithi” is a co-educational Bengali medium school, started in the year 1972 with two wings namely the KG section and the Primary Section.

TIt had 418 children (boys 361 and girls 57) during the year, of which 96 were from Scheduled Caste, 7 from Scheduled Tribe, 14 from OBC and460 from Muslim community. It being partly residential, 11 boys stayed in hostel. There were 104 children in its Kindergarten, among them, 21 belonged to SC/ST categories, 4 to OBC and 12 to Minority.
